Use the Property Search option to locate your property. Search by name, address or account number.
Click the HS Exemption icon to access the online Homestead application.
Step 1: Ownership Information
This section requires the following information: owner’s names, mailing address, phone number, driver’s license or personal ID certificate, date of birth, and percentage of ownership.
Describe the property. Residential properties with more than one acre may apply for up to twenty acres and should be indicated here. If the residence is a manufactured home, a space is provided to indicate the make, model, and identification number.
Step 3: Exemption Types and Tax Limitation
You will need to identify the exemptions that apply to you and indicate whether you are transferring a tax limitation from a previous property.
Step 4: Application Documents
a copy of your Texas driver’s license or state-issued personal identification
certificate. The address listed must correspond to the address of the property
for which an exemption is claimed. In certain cases, you are exempt from these

Applicants applying for the 100% Disabled Veteran Exemption must provide current documentation from the Department of Veterans Affairs indicating the veteran received 100% disability compensation due to service-connected disability. For a Disabled Person Exemption attach supporting documentation relating to the disability. If the applicant is requesting the Age 65 or Older, Disabled Person and is not specifically identified on the deed or other applicable document, they must provide a Community Property Affidavit. If you are transferring a tax limitation from a previous address please attach the Tax Ceiling Transfer Certificate with the appropriate exemption type.
Manufactured home owners are required to attach a copy of the statement of ownership and location for the manufactured home issued by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs showing the applicant is the owner of the manufactured home..
Step 5: Statement Regarding Cooperative Housing
Applies to owners occupying a cooperative housing unit who have an exclusive right to occupy the unit because of their cooperative housing stock ownership.
Step 6: Affirmation and Signature
Check the box to certify the address on the license matches the property address - or is exempt from this requirement. After including an email address, click on the sign & submit button.
