Williamson County Exemption Increase

The Williamson County Commissioners Court voted to extend the age 65 and older and disabled individuals property tax exemption as well as add an exemption for homeowners on May 25.

The move would increase the existing $30,000 tax exemption for residents age 65 and older to $90,000 and the $20,000 tax exemption for disabled residents to $75,000. The new homestead property tax exemption is set to 1.5% of assessed value or $5,000, whichever is greater.

This increased exemption is only applied to county taxes.

If you do not have the Over 65 or Disabled Person Exemption, individuals must apply for the exemption online through the Williamson Central Appraisal District, WCAD.org.

If you already have the Over 65 Exemption, no need to re-apply, the increase will be applied automatically.

If you would like to confirm you have the Over 65 Exemption please refer to our website, Wcad.org, use the property search, and look under twenty twenty one, owner information, next to Exemptions. The Over 65 Exemption is coded as Tax Code 11.13(c) Exemption.

If you have further questions regarding this change, please feel free to contact the respective taxing entity.
