TCTC Tax Ceiling Transfer Certificate Request Form

TCTC Tax Ceiling Transfer Certificate Request Form

If you have moved and are requesting to transfer the Over 65, Disabled Person, 100% Disabled Veteran (or surviving spouse), Surviving Spouse of Member of Armed Forces Killed in Action exemption, or Surviving Spouse of First Responder Killed in Action exemption to a property in another county, please complete the electronic Exemption Contact form.

  • Exemptions have to be applied over a year on the previous residence before they freeze and can be transferred.
  • This freeze ceiling is calculated by the appropriate tax office and provided to the Appraisal District.
  • The frozen taxes on your home cannot increase as long as you own and live in that home, and as long as you don’t add any improvements to the property.
  • The tax ceiling is the frozen dollar amount you pay based on the year that you qualify for the Over 65 or Disabled Persons exemption and the homestead exemption.
  • The taxes on your home may go below the ceiling, but the taxes will not be more than the amount of your ceiling.

** TAX CEILING TRANSFER CERTIFICATE IS DIFFERENT THAN A TAX CERTIFICATE - A TAX CERTIFICATE IS ISSUED BY THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY TAX OFFICE TO SHOW TAXES HAVE BEEN PAID AND NO TAXES ARE DUE**
