Austin Community College- 2022 Notice of Cancelled or Reduced Exemption

Austin Community College- 2022 Notice of Cancelled or Reduced Exemption

Per the tax code, we are required to notify property owners when there has been a reduction or cancellation to their exemptions. Effective 2022 tax year, Austin Community College has reduced dollar deduction for Over 65 and Disabled Person exemptions, but will still continue to freeze the taxes. If your Austin Community College taxes are currently frozen, the dollar deduction removal will not affect your freeze. This reduction will not affect your property.

The dollar deductions shown on wcad.org are not specific to you, but what the legal deductions are for the current year per taxing unit.

*Tip:  In your record,  if you change the tax year to 2021, you will see the dollar deductions that were used to derive the dollar amount you paid in 2021 to ACC.  This is the dollar amount that will freeze for ACC going forward.

  • The property owners with OA/DP for 2021 will keep the 180,000 exemption and freeze will stay as is.
  • If the property qualified for the OA/DP exemption in 2021 or earlier, your taxes for the Austin Community College will not be affected by this change, except in some extenuating circumstances.
  • These will only affect the property owners that qualify for the OA/DP exemption for 2022 forward, they will be granted the 75,000 exemption and freeze with that exemption amount.
  • There is no need to re-apply for the OA/DP exemptions.  This exemption has been reduced by Austin Community College.
